Andrei LALETIN is Chairman of NGO 'Friends of the Siberian Forests'. He gave lectures on forestry and soil science at the Siberian Technological University, and on botany and ecology - at Krasnoyarsk State University. He is the author of more than 60 articles and reports on various issues of botany, ecology, and forestry. In 1981-1997 he worked as a researcher in V.N. Sukhachev Forest Institute of Siberian Branch of the USSR (now Russian) Academy of Science. In 1997 he worked as a forestry consultant for the World Bank. In 1998-1999 he worked as a coordinator of Russian Forest Program in IUCN-The World Conservation Union.

He graduated from Krasnoyarks State University in 1981 and in 1987 he received Ph.D. in forest ecology from the V.N. Sukachev Forest Institute in Krasnoyarsk. Since 2002 he coordinates NGOs in the CIS region for the Global Forest Coalition. Since February 2003 he coordinates environmental NGOs in major groups council of the UN Forum on Forests.
