Vladimir STRELETSKI is a senior research fellow at the Institute of Geography at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. In addition, he teaches historical geography at the University of the Russian Academy of Education. He also teaches a course entitled 'Geographical Environment and History of Civilizations', which he developed and now delivers at the Russian International Academy of Tourism. He is a specialist in the socioeconomic geography of Germany and other countries of Western Europe, and has studied the implications of foreign policies for countries undergoing market reforms.

V. Streletski is an author of scientific works on ethnocultural geography and ecology of local cultures, problems of international relations in Russia and CIS, and the international experience of ethnoterritorial conflicts. He has a Ph.D. in geographical sciences and is a graduate of Moscow State University.
