As a research scientist with the Atmospheric Scientific Research Institute, Mr. Zaitsev is responsible for developing models for the study of air pollution. Prior to his current position, he researched air pollution control at the Institute of Natural Protection. Mr. Zaitsev earned his master's degree in physics from Leningrad State University and received additional training in international relations associated with environmental problems at the UNEP's regional office for Europe. In May 1994, he participated in the Third International Task Force for Integrated Modeling in Bilthoven, the Netherlands. He is interested in the linkage between the environmental sciences and government to achieve sustainable development.
