Sholpan Sapargali has graduated from Kazakh State University (Kazakhstan) – Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, received her Academic Degree MSc in Mathematics. Also she holds PhD in Economic Sciences from Institute of Economy (Almaty, Kazakhstan). Since 2001 she has worked in several international projects (under support of TACIS, OSCE, Soros, UNESCAP, UNDP) as expert and manager. Her specialization is mathematical modeling of economic systems, regional economy and sustainable development.

In 2004-2006 she worked in Economic Researches Institute as Director of Center of Macroeconomic Analysis, dealing with researches for Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan. Also in 2006 she was project manager of UNDP and Environment Protection Ministry joint project “Strengthening of environment protection for Sustainable Development”.

Now she is Deputy Director of Center for Sustainable Development of Capital (Astana). The Center conducts researching projects on problems of Astana city development, including actions on realization of Strategic Plan of Sustainable Development of Astana till 2030 that was developed by Center in 2005 and approved by Government in 2006.
