Georgy Gogolev is now researching the possibilities of the development of renewable energy sources in the Russian Federation. It is a part of his PhD, which he is working on at the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Previously he has been involved in numerous projects on protection of animals run by international NGOs. In 2005-2006 he was a managing director of an international IT startup, working with the hospitality industry, running operations in Europe and the Middle East. Mr. Gogolev was also interning in the San Francisco Department of the Environment and was actively involved in organizing the UN World Environment Day 2005 and drafting the Urban Environmental Accords.
George has traveled extensively and possesses a good knowledge of life in the different corners of our planet. He went to school in Russia, Vietnam, Canada and the USA. He is fluent in English and Russian, has a good command of French and a decent knowledge of German. He graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University Department of Geography in Moscow, with a degree in Environmental Management.
His research interest and work experience include renewable energy and energy efficiency, ecotourism, urban policy, green economics, global environmental issues, intercultural relations and management and peak oil theory. His hobbies include photography, traveling, martial arts and diving.
