Lilit OHANYAN graduated Yerevan
State University (Armenia) with honors - department of foreign languages,
majoring in English and Spanish.
At present she works at National Democratic Institute/Armenia as a Political
Program Assistant. The political programming is focused on delivering trainings
to all interested parties and political forces, as well as consultations and
expertise. The mission of NDI is to promote democratic values worldwide. Lilit
has been with NDI since December 2002.
From 2001-2002 Lilit worked as a translator/assistant at international
journalist organization Promedia. During her work in Promedia, she carried out a
project on organizing workshops for reporters in regions of Armenia to ensure
adequate coverage of the electoral process.
In the year 2002 she worked at a two-month project of UNDP 'Preparation of
Armenia to WSSD', where she was a program assistant. She assisted to the
development of 'National Assessment Report Rio+10' of the Republic of Armenia.
From 2000-2001 Lilit worked at an environmental project of TACIS in Moscow,
Russia, as a program assistant and translator.
During all her professional experience, Lilit has carried out translations for
various organizations, such as Eco-Accord (Moscow), Moscow State University (Moscow),
World Vision (Armenia), etc.
Together with her work she has always been rather active in public life. Since
1995 (the date of its foundation) Lilit has been a member of Association 'For
Sustainable Human Development' (Yerevan). The NGO promotes implementation of
principles and ideas of sustainable development in Armenia. It is also a UNEP
National Committee in Armenia. Lilit assists at developing international links,
translating and interpreting, organization of workshops and conferences at
regional and international levels. She also undertakes broad activities in
raising of public awareness in the sphere of sustainable development, in
particular by organizing environmental summer camps for children and training at
schools.
