Elena NOSOVA works as a leading
specialist at International Department of the National Institute of Deserts,
Flora and Fauna of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan.
Her working experience and responsibilities are with projects undertaken by the
National Institute of Deserts in the sphere of environmental problems in desert
regions and in combating desertification.
She has worked with two international projects in collaboration with the German
Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ/GEOPLAN) designed to implement the
International Convention to Combat Desertification (CCD) in Turkmenistan.
At present she also has part-time duties in the Scientific-Information Center of
the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development which was established in
collaboration with National Institute of Deserts and consolidates information
and analyzes the scientific-technical potential of five Central Asian States.
Her main responsibilities include gathering and analyzing data about current
environmental conditions and the specific features of sustainable development of
the Central Asian Sub-region to provide a strong foundation of reliable
information for region-wide analysis and regional decision-making on
environmental issues.
She also worked with a team to prepare a Regional Environmental Action Plan (REAP)
for Turkmenistan and Global Environmental Outlook (GEO-3) on Central Asian.
E.Nosova is a graduate of the Biological Geography Department of Turkmen State
University (1996).
