Lilit Harutyunyan is an
integrated water resources management specialist and resource economist of the
USAID Sustainable Water Resources Management Project in Armenia, which is
implemented by the Armenian branch of Associates in Rural Development
Incorporation (ARD Inc., Armenia). She is responsible for technical lead for
integrated water resources management and planning, Armenia's Water Code
National Water Policy, National Water Program and other water related
legislation development, as well as analytical support for Institutional
Capacity Building for integrated water resources management.
Before joining ARD Inc., Armenia in April of 2001, Lilit was employed by JINJ
Consulting Company in Water Supply and Wastewater Engineering and Environment
Sectors as a Resource Economist and Integrated Water Resources Management
Specialist. She successfully participated in the process of development of a new
institutional set-up for improved water resources management in Armenia and
draft Water Policy guidelines, which were adopted by the Armenian Government.
Currently Lilit is also a Board Member of Sustainable Water Environment NGO that
promotes water resources protection, efficient management and purposeful use
towards sustainable development in Armenia.
Her interests are focused on new polices and approaches to natural resources
management and water resources particularly to address development and
environmental concerns. Lilit holds a bachelor's degree in economics from
Gladzor University of Armenia and a master's degree in Environmental Science and
economics from Lund University, Sweden.
