Asiya Ibrogimovna TURENIAZOVA is a
researcher at the Institute of Ecology of the Karakalpak Branch of the Uzbek
Academy of Sciences. As a member of LEAD, she hopes to promote an
interdisciplinary approach to sustainable development. She plans to work on a
Geographic Information System for the Aral Sea region, and to further study the
causes and consequences of Aral ecological catastrophe. She enjoys cooking,
travelling and art. Her Ph.D. in physics and mathematics is from Samarkand State
University
